Dominica Yang

Carer & Founding Member of Brain Health Initiative

Dominica has been spending the last 5 + years looking after her parents, both affected by different symptoms and conditions of Dementia & Parkinson's disease. She believes in nurturing daily loving mental & physical care, stimulation and interactive activities to maintain quality of life for those affected with dementia.

Brain Health Initiative (BHI) was set up early 2016 by a group of concerned individuals who wish to raise the awareness of dementia in the Hong Kong community, to share information and to offer support to those affected by dementia and their carers. BHI held their first forum in March 2016, followed by another two forums in Oct 2016 & April 2017. At a typical BHI forum, we usually engage an international speaker e.g. a professor working in the relevant field from a reputable university abroad, and a local expert in the field of dementia e.g. psychologist, geriatrician, psychiatrist, followed by Q & A. The next forum will be mid November 2017.

BHI also runs coffee mornings every 2-3 months for dementia carers and those interested in the condition to share and exchange information.

BHI hopes to offer hope, support and information to those affected by dementia and to those who are interested in knowing about dementia.

Dominica is also involved with other charities, volunteer work & the Arts e.g. Hong Kong Red Cross, Fu Hong Society & Friends of the Art Museum CUHK. She is currently the Deputy Board Chairman of the Hong Kong Arts Centre.
