Dr Valerie Sinason (BA Hons PGTC MACP MInstPsychoanal PHD FIPD) is a poet, writer, child psychotherapist and adult psychoanalyst. A former consultant psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic and St Georges Hospital Medical School Psychiatry of  Disability Dept, she was Founder Director of the Clinic for Dissociative Studies and has  specialised in disability, trauma and dissociation. She was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the ISSTD in 2016 in the USA, honorary POM membership in Sweden and Hon Consultant at the CHILD Guidance Clinic at the University of Cape Town.  She lectures nationally and internationally and is widely published. Amongst her latest publications are "Mental Handicap and the Human Condition: an analytic approach to intellectual disability"(Free Association Books), "Trauma Dissociation and Multiplicity" (Routledge) , "Shattered but Unbroken" with Amelia van der Merwe (Karnac 2016)  and "A Holistic Approach to DID"' with Dr Pat Frankish (Karnac 2017).
