Alexander Chan

B.Physiotherapy (Hons) HKPA member, APA Member PhD candidate

Alexander is an Australian trained physiotherapist who graduated from University of Melbourne. For 10 years, he worked in several large private practices in Melbourne, with his practice primarily focused on rehabilitating people with complex back and neck disorders. He has also managed multi-disciplinary pain management programs. In 2012, he moved to Hong Kong and continued working clinically at PhysioCentral.
Alexander has also been involved in various elite sports teams in Australia and HongKong (VFL; Hong Kong Rugby 7s; Hong Kong National Cricket teams; Hong Kong Davis and Fed Cup). He has also worked with individual elite athletes at the Hong Kong Sports Institute and at international sporting events.
Driven by evidence-based practice, Alexander is the only private practice physiotherapist in Hong Kong where his clinical skills in back pain are underpinned by his current research activities. He is about to submit his PhD thesis investigating
the conservative management of non-reducible discogenic low back pain (La Trobe University, Australia). His research was part of the successful Specific Treatment of Problems of the Spine (STOPS) trials. This has led him to present his research in numerous international journals and speaking engagements.
