Elaine Peng

Founder of Chinese Community Services Committee, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness)

 

Elaine Peng is a dedicated mental health advocate and educator. As a consumer and family member, she provides education to reduce public prejudice against mental illnessand to decrease stigma among caregivers and patientsshe helps to promote mental health services and provide peer support within the underserved Chinese Community, helped establish the NAMI Chinese Community Service Committee in the San Francisco Bay Area. She developed the first NAMI Chinese website (www.namichinese.org) in the U.S. Elaine is a leader and developer of multiple NAMI programs for the Chinese Community. She was the recipient of the 2016 NAMI National's Multicultural Outreach Award and the 2017 NAMI California's Multicultural Outreach Award. California State Assembly selected Elaine Peng as the Community Hero.

She has been interviewed and quoted in World Journal, China Daily, Sing Tao US, US China Press, Chinese Radio, VICE and KTSF
