Kimberly Carder

MMA Fighter and Clinical Psychology PsyD candidate

 

Kimberley Carder completed her undergraduate in Psychology at the University of Southern California and then returned back to Hong Kong. She conducted eye-tracking device research to aid early diagnosis of Autism at the Hong Kong Institute of Education. In the pursuit of being more hands-on in Autism intervention, she volunteering with Autistic children at Watchdog and worked in Special Needs Education with the English Schools Foundation for three years before starting her Doctorate of Psychology. Currently, in her final year of her Clinical Psychology PsyD, she is completing her clinical placement at SPOT, an interdisciplinary children's clinic. Her dissertation examines the subjective experience inside sensory deprivation tanks, furthering the understanding of how our senses effects our consciousness. 
 
Kimberley is also an avid athlete. She was the first champion and professional female MMA fighter in Hong Kong, winning her 2015 debut by unanimous decision. She continues to pursue martial arts, competing in Brazilian Jiujitsu tournaments in Hong Kong and globally. For Kimberley there is no differentiation between physical health and mental health the two have been strongly connected.
