Dr Alan Cheng was born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in bioanalytical chemistry in Vancouver before relocating to Hong Kong, where he completed medical school at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He then underwent training in psychiatry and is now a member of the Hong Kong College of Psychiatrists and a psychiatry specialist of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine.

Dr Cheng brings extensive experiences working with both children and adults across a wide spectrum of mental health conditions, including ADHD, autism, psychosis, mood and anxiety disorders, psychogeriatric conditions, gender dysphoria, substance misuse disorders, and eating disorders, among others. He also has experiences in cognitive-behavioural therapy and family therapy. He has a deep understanding of the emotional experiences faced by those from overseas and local to Hong Kong, offering a warm and integrative approach to mental wellness.

Alan is a native speaker of English and Cantonese and is fluent in Mandarin. He likes to travel, read, play flute in a local orchestra, and spend time with his son. He finds joy in meeting people from all walks of life and learning from their unique experiences.
