Lorna Sianen Pagaduan, has a BSc (Nursing) from the Philippines and was a nurse practitioner before moving to Hong Kong. She is an author, public speaker and educator. Lorna is a passionate health advocate, particularly for mental health, and has led the Filipino Nurses Association Hong Kong since its establishment in 2006. She was instrumental in bringing the Professional Regulations Commission-Board of Nursing Examination to Hong Kong in 2009. Lorna has successfully advocated for Free Mammogram screenings, Pap smears and other health events to be available on Sundays, so that Migrant Domestic Workers (MDW) can attend. Lorna was a RESOLVE Fellow in 2022 and won the publisher’s Global Woman of Influence Award in 2024 for her contribution best seller My Voice Volume 3. She is an ambassador for many NGOs in Hong Kong that support Migrant Domestic Workers (MDW). Lorna continues to increase her knowledge and skills by completing many professional development courses in mental health and wellbeing that enable her to better support her community. “Why of all opportunities abroad, for nurses, you opt to stay here?” question she always answers. I can see the need for my fellow MDW and I feel my stay here is worthy.
