Celia is Professor at the School of Social Work, Melbourne School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry, and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne, and Honorary Professor at both the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at the University of Hong Kong. She serves as Coordinator (Hong Kong and China) of the International Infertility Counseling Organization and Co-Chair of the Psychology and Counseling Special Interest Group at ASPIRE (2025–2027).
As a leading figure in fertility and infertility counseling in the Asia-Pacific region, Celia specializes in reproductive and maternal mental health. Her work focuses on infertility, assisted and third-party reproduction, pregnancy loss, and women’s psychosocial wellbeing. She provides counselling and psychosocial support to individuals and couples, and has led extensive capacity-building and professional training for healthcare and mental health professionals across the region.
Celia is internationally recognized for developing the Integrative Body-Mind-Spirit (I-BMS) Intervention Model, which integrates Eastern philosophies with Western therapeutic practices to support emotional resilience and holistic wellbeing. Her current research includes cross-national studies on culturally responsive psychosocial interventions and mental health in reproductive care, bridging practice, research, and policy to improve outcomes for individuals and families.
